SachaMama means mount mother, and the mount is the place where these delightful women, who captivates us with their art, weave.
Their textiles are a genuine source of sustenance for their families, and they undergo their work as a precious way of empowerment.
The woman who weaves on a loom (“telar”) is called Telera
SachaMama’s Teleras spin and dye sheep and llama wool thoroughly by hand. They know that the most beautiful colors are those obtained from the roots, barks and resins of the mount.
This and many other secrets were learned from their mothers and grandmothers who taught them all about warp and weft, heald (lizos ) and tread (pisadores).
SachaMama weaves, inspiration from the mount
Like a piece of art, SachaMama weaves are unique, and there are hardly two alike. However, it is possible to order similar products by following the codes in the photographs of our catalogue.

Located at San José del Boquerón, the SachaMama Project arises from the Jesuit parish social and cultural promotion proposal. The parish is the meeting point for the group of Teleras who keep their identity intact and make their work a sustainable way of life for themselves and their families.
